Just 15 years ago Kemer was a rather small village lying quietly between the pine forests of the Tauros mountains and the turquoise Mediterrenean sea. Kemer is a glorious cosmopolitan holiday resort after the villagers realizing that tourism makes better earnings than fishing.

The development, thanks to God, has been mostly sympathetic with buildings painted in pastel colours giving Kemer a warm and a colourful feel.  Many of the shopping areas around Kemer are pedestrianized without any motorized vehicles.  The resort centre has a very wide choice of bars and restaurants that you would expect of a town of this size to have and right in the centre of Kemer is a marina where you can have a cold drink and discuss which of the yachts would suit your style.  Sand runs away from either side of the marina with a small beach to the south backed by a park with cafes around and a water park with lots of entertainment to keep the kids happy. To the north of Kemer there is a longer beach with a walking promenade running aside the beach..

The ancient city of Phaselis can be reached by boat and is located 15 km away from Kemer. Most of the ruins remained are from the Roman period and consists of an harbour, castle walls, Zeus Temple, King Antonius road and a twenty lined antic theater.  Part of the ancient city of Phaselis is underwater.  You can swim in between the antic columns and ruins while having the antic city at the back.

Kemer also offers many opportunties to those who intent to stay away from crowded places. You can participate to boat tours in the turquoise colored coasts of the Mediterranean sea or you can experience different excitements in the tracks of the Taurus mountains by joining one of the jeep safaris.
